To get rid of the language bar
Open Control Panel, Regional and Language Options
Go to the Languages tab, click on Details, go to the Advanced tab and select Turn off advanced text services. OK and OK.
To get rid of My Documents from the desktop
Open Control Panel, Display
Go to the Desktop tab, select Customize Desktop
De-select My Documents. OK and OK.
To restore a shortcut to Windows Explorer on your desktop
Right click the Start button and select Explore
Click Tools, Folder Options
Go to the View tab, click Apply to All Folders
Now whenever you open My Computer it should open in the Windows Explorer view.
