Another way to do it is to go to the bank and ask if they have credit building accounts. Basically you give the bank say 500 bucks and then take out a loan for 500 bucks. Every month they make the paments for you out of the account that you supplied the money for. I know my credit union does it. Its an option if you have the spare cash.
