My wife filled her car (1.8t) with 95 octane race boat gas once by accident. That was over 100k miles ago. I'd have to hear some stories about high octane fuel messing up FI set-ups before I believe it. I know that you don't need high octane fuel for non-FI set ups. My nephew in-law runs 87 on his 4bbl carbed tweeked crate engine in his 70's Sebring Satellite and he runs better times than with higher octane. But that carb shit is all Greek to me anyway...
I get what you're stating though. With 100 octane or higher you would want to run higher boost...
