99 Honda Passport issues with parking..

I dont' need parking lessons just to say...

Anywho, as the title stats I have a 99 honda passport 3.2l automatic.

Awhile ago I had a parking related problem, where I could go to park the car, and the shifter wouldn't go into park and stay. I would put it in park, and it would feel like it was cushioned when it went to the park postion. I could easily move the shifter out of park WITHOUT having to press the shifter button.

Well, my mechanic sprayed some wd40? around the shifter area in and outside? (i think) the car and it seemed to fix the problem.

Just this past week its started up again, now a couple notes. When this happens, I cannot take the cars key out untill I can get the car perfectly in park.

Today at the gas station it happened again, and the only way I could fix it was to drive ahead and hit the breaks hard (driving a small distance didn't fix it). Could have been just pure luck thoe..

It also happened one time where I had a friend push the car (while technically in park) and I was able to get it fully in park and remove the key. Could have been luck also..

Some more notes,

Just recently we had some bad rain and roads were badly flooded, the truck went through some preety high water. Need some greasen again?

Also, im preety sure I have the paten'd range more selector problem, I regreased it and it didn't fix the problem, however letting the car warm up for about 30-1m fixes the hard shifts. I never replaced the range mode selector becuase I found warming up fixed it.

That about does it... LOL..
