you almost sound like your planning on writing an article on the subject

those who call the vr4 a slow pig are ricer's
if they were true auto enthusiasts they wouldnt call it that at all

many ricer's have the idea in there head that, less weight is a better way to gain speed than adding hp and tq.

well as far as straight line goes, the vr4 is only second to third in speed when it comes to the classic twinturbo's of the 90's
