Re: Aveo5 Attempted Robbery :(
I'd say definitely worth keeping. Unless you plan on moving to a "safer" neighborhood. But still no guarantee you won't have a breakin there either. When I lived in the burbs cars were broken into all the time. If you get rid of it for something else, that something else is just as likely to be broken into. And maybe even more so as you are currently driving one of the cheapest cars available and anything else would be an upgrade. I wonder if they wanted the whole car or just some of the contents. In the future you could make sure there is nothing valuable in the car and leave the doors unlocked. This way if they want the contents they won't break anything getting in and will leave once they realize there is nothing of value. If they really want the car I have a feeling they will get it no matter what. If you are still worried about it being completely stolen, it may not be a bad idea to look into the insurance where they will replace the entire vehicle and not just pay out the depreciated value.
Since this car has no real monetary value, value will be obtained by keeping the vehicle as long as possible, driving down the cost per mile over the long haul. Even if you have to put 1k into it.
Personally, I would fix the locks and make sure everything works properly and not bother with the cosmetic stuff. Since I'm not of the mentality that my car defines who I am, I don't care what it looks like and especially don't care what others think of my car.
That's my 2 cents. Good luck.
