Well, if the purpose of you writing about the fuel pump issue is to get an answer for it, I can give you a brief explanation. The problem that is most likely being addressed, is that the fuel pump is overheating and burning up. The fuel in the fuel tank acts as a cooling system for the pump. The fuel helps disperse the heat through itself, just like coolant does. When there is very little fuel in the tank, the fuel pump cannot cool itself, and therefore may heat up to the point of failing. In my area of the country, it's pretty common due to our hot summers.
