Coor light came out with the 18 pack plastic bottles a while back. They came in a cheap little cooler that was marketed towards beach people. The idea being you could put ice in the cooler and keep the beer cold. It was the same as drinking beer from a bottle, yet you couldn't take glass to the beach, therefor they were in plastic bottles.
