I plan to paint the fabric texture on the body with a flat BRG or just paint it with Tamiya's BRG and then flat coat over that section. There isn't much you can realistically do to improve the kit texture in that scale IMO.

It's not fabric, so there's no weave! The material used is actually leather cloth (a posh name for vinyl), so if there's a suitibly scaled moulded in leather grain, that will be more than sufficient. As for the finish, matt or a matt / satin mix would be a good replication imho, as it should have a slight sheen.
