Hmmm, just rust or pitting? If it's just rust, then I'd like to know why they think it's a problem. Unless you get zinc plated rotors, you're going to get rust. Rust around the hub of the rotor and around the outer edge, where the pads don't rub, is perfectly normal. Well, even rust on the friction surface is normal after the brakes have been sitting, but it doesn't take much use before the brake pads wear that rust away.
