Which company?  It is a GM product assembled in a GM plant in Lordstown Ohio. Most of the Ecotec engines are assembled at a GM powertrain plant in Tonawanda NY. As far as quality goes check one out for yourself. It's an economy car. Not a Lexus. That said, I've found the fit/finish/assembly to be better on my Cobalt than it was on my 2005 Trailblazer that cost twice as much. They are an awesome little car. The Ecotec 2.2L and 4T45E transaxle is GM's little gem as far as I am concerned.
