Eclipse

Known as DSM(Diamond Star Motors), it was a venture between Chrysler and Mitsubishi. Came out in '90, ranged from a front drive 90 something HP 1.8 non-turbo to a AWD 4G63 2.0 with 195HP via a Mitsu 14b turbo. 1st generation is 90-94. 90-91 had pop up lights; looked more aerodynamic. 92-94 had a slightly restyled body minus pop ups. 2nd gen is 95-99. 95-96 was totally different interior/ext. slightly revised again in 97-99.
Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T is Front wheel drive turbo.
Eclipse GSX is AWD turbo
Eagle Talon Tsi is front wheel drive turbo.
Eagle Talon Tsi AWD is AWD turbo.
The 95-99 had a tiny T-25 Garret turbo, the smaller head and intake man., yet it had basically an Evo 3+ Exhaust man, a plastic BOV that leaks at anything above 12psi about 3/4 bar. 97-99 very good looking.
The 90-94 had a Mitsu 14b turbo, bigger head and intake man, smaller exhaust man, good BOV hold 25psi/about 2bar.
Stock, the best ive seen run is 0-60mph in 6.3sec, 0-100mph in 18sec, 1/4 mile(1320ft) 14.5@92mph, 68mph slalom, .88g on skidpad.
For a small amount of money they can run 13's in the 1/4.
For a decent amount of money they can run low 12's, run 0-100mph in 10.5 sec. and outperform most cars you come across on the road in the US. Of course you can build them into drag cars and run 8's in the 1/4 @150mph+. As close as weve got to an EVO here, but the 97-99 looks way sexier than any EVO. Then in 2000 they redesigned again, no 4G63, no turbo, no AWD, we got a 3.0L SOHC V6 and front wheel drive-SHITTY. Luckily, we got the WRX here a year or so ago, and in a few months we get the EVO 7, but who knows how detuned it will be. Our WRX is a little faster than a stock Eclipse GSX. We have no skylines, silvias, STi's, Evo's, were deprived. Peace out.
