Re: 1998 Chevrolet Malibu problems...
Well, Ok For Starters When The oil is like "Coffee" it because water is going into the oil first reason gasket set might be worn out it is cause by people put only water instead of antifreeze the gaskets get rusted then they tear up. Now if the oil is like "coffee looking" it might just be the gasket set. But if you notice that the coolant level goes down, it cause it going to one of your cylinders and it causing to misfire. But if that is true it might also be the heads maybe the person that had it before ran the car without antifreeze and heated the motor. And the bad thing about the malibu is that the heads are made of Alummin. So when the car is run without the proper antifreeze the head heat up and expand causing to swollen up and makes it easy for the water to get in the cylinders. I learn this because my malibu was doing the same but what I did was take the heads to a machine shop had them retorque them file them new half motor gasket set and labor for 700.00 where I live. And for the ticking sound I had that to the Mech. Said when he open the motor he said have of my lifters were loose that what was causing the ticking sound.
