1998 Chevrolet Malibu problems...

Last Saturday I traded in a 1999 Ford Escort for a 98 Malibu. The car sounded fine, drove good, was really comfortable. The only problem I seen was that the coolant light would come on but the coolant was full. So I figured it having dexcool it was turning to jelly and the sensor was getting stuck. The oil was a little over full but sometimes that is a common mistake. I done it a few times to my cavalier I had. The car has 123,000 miles on it and it seemed to be a good deal. Monday morning I noticed a slight ticking noise coming from the engine. One of my co-workers told me it sounded like I had a bad lifter. Since monday the ticking has began to last longer and get louder and louder. I came home tonight and decided to research a little bit and found out about coolant leaking into the intake manifold. My wife's step dad told me that this ticking isn't gonna hurt anything. I don't know to much about cars so I don't really know. I don't have any clue how much it would cost to have it fixed and I can't afford to pay a whole lot. I live in Georgia and they have no laws regarding the sales of used cars.
