I just replace the belts on my '95 neon (sohc) after they came off for the second time. Didn't realize the first time that the crank pulley was not fully installed.
But the first time they came off, the car still ran off battery power long enough to get home. The second time they came off, the car sputtered, stalled and would not start, or even try. Both times the belts wrapped around the crank inside the pulley.
So, now that it's sat a while, I got it on the lift to check things out, fully install the pulley and replace the alternator (toast from sitting).
I charged the battery and checked for codes again. The dead batt. no doubt cleared the codes. BUT, after attempting to start it again, it popped a code 43.
We checked for fuel pressure at the rail, good, spark at the plug wires, good.
Then we sprayed starting fluid straight into TB and tried again. Would not even attempt to fire, but cranked fine.
Still code 43.
Any ideas?????
