Thats exactly what I need, a relay. The ignition wire is a much better choice. Thank you very much for the responses. I knew something of that purpose existed, I just had no idea of what it was called.
I was planning on wiring the inverter directly to the electrical system (with proper safety concerns) and bypass that hideously clumsly cigarette lighter setup, so it does sound like a good idea.

I'm sure I can figure the rest out, either by google or wiki; if all else fails, I'll be sure to come back here. Thanks guys.

BTW, it is an Acura.
