they're definitely heavy-duty, but they're designed for big diesel engines, and you may run into problems with connecting one to a small-block engine because of the splines/input shaft/bolt patterns.
using something like a 4L60E transmission, with uprated internal parts would do the same job, take the same power and last just as long. but it would be phyiscally smaller and lights.
of course, it's you're truck and your decision, i just think it's overkill and a lot of weight you don't neccessairly need. since you can take a smaller lighter gearbox and make it handle the same.
