Ahh, one of the most important things to know as a motorhead. In a straight line, depending on the car's transmission differences, an automatic transmission accelerates smoothly and shifts gear at the right revs to reach the maximum rate of acceleration. Add a 'shift kit' to it and the shifts become harder, which makes the car even faster. I never actually tested how an automatic reacts when racing from a roll (30-50 mph) but I'll guarantee that's where the manual has its number.
