Well the factory paint job on my eclipse was complete shit. It started to fade and peel after 6 years of life. I've never seen a cars paint fade that quickly unless they really skimped on the clear coat, it's like a disease on my car it keeps spreading...

So your mileage may vary. I'm sure some people get 10+ years out of an acrylic paint job, a lot depends on how good of a job they do.
