I believe there are 3 things that affect the operation of the blower motor.
1 The motor itself, which is working at the high speed.
2 The blower resistor, which has a resistor for each speed. If any one of those resistors is faulty, you will lose a speed on the fan.
3 The climate control fan switch on the center console.

My guess is that the switch is faulty if the blower still works on high. It is also a moving part and subject to wear. It can be pulled out of the console and tested with a meter.

My guess on the squealing blower fan is that it may need lubrication.
