I dunno, all i can say is my 89 2.8 didnt need intake touched to pull that dist. piece and replace seal. If i remember right, pulled the throttle body and had clearance for it to come out easily.
And as i said, i didnt replace the O ring at all, i just used a flat gasket like other distrubuters had, and its never leaked.
