First disconnect the negative battery terminal then pull off the cover at the base where the console meets the A/C controls. Open the door just a little and then pull strait out (put you fingers inside the top of the door opening). Mine came out with ease. Then remove a screw or two (cant remember for sure) then pry the bottom of the molding off the peg next to the stereo (right side I think), then pull strait back, removing from the top of the dash. Be careful to not break the plastic tabs on the top going into the top of the dash. Then you can remove the stereo with 4 screws pull out a little then disconnect the antena and then the wiring harness. This can be done in less than 5 minutes. I have an 03 that did the same thing and went bad. I got one off of ebay for about $70.00. The dealer wanted $300.00 for a refurb and $500.00 for a new. They would not attempt a repair. Good Luck.
