Hmmmmm, to make myself clear..... I didn't understand myself when I re-read the above post...:o
Since my Tamiya paint wasn't "attacked" by the Oil-paint-wash (You know: some artist's oil paint heavily diluted with white spirit) while building those aircraft, I think it's safe to use Turtle-Wax on a Tamiya paint job. I'm not sure about Humbrol or any other enamel-based paint. Therefore it's best to spray some paint on a piece of scrap plastic and try the wax. But why not use real automotive paint?? Guiddy has written quite a comprehensive article on automotive paints. It's in the Gallery Section.
