Sean, I lightly wet sand the area to get rid of any sharp edges then clear coat the area. Once dry I sand just like any normal paint job until any remaining ridge is removed. If you use Auto clear you shouldn't have a problem with sanding through and paint thickness isn't usually a problem with lacquer.

Great progress by the way. You did a good job saving the paint job
