please refrain from giving advice, about which you have NO CLUE, to forum newcomers.

to clarify, the AWD on our car has its limitations, but compared to the systems on the Evo and WRX, its much better. the new Evo's are trashing the entire transfer case. the transfer cases on the 3S are stout, but tend to break only when launched hard/abused on years 91-93. years 94+ the problems were fixed. the Evo transfer case is much more fragile.

as for the WRX's, their transmissions are crap after about 30k miles. i've heard of new owners going through multiple transmissions on just the stock motor. they don't hold up well under increased horsepower. as for the 3S transmission, it can take whatever power you dish out. now the synchros tend to fail after 100k miles or so, but that's the only major problem, and the synchro assembly for any transmission is wear part that requires maintenance, just like brake pads.

and as for an AWD conversion...wow. that is something that would require more custom work, fabrication, and welding than is worth, not to mention money. yes, its been done before, even on a 3S, but unless you are very skilled in metal work fabrication and welding, then it will cost you big bucks. and for the time/money required, its easier and more feasible to just buy an AWD vehicle. don't believe me? check out this site: www.bobthegreat.com.
