Re: Bristol, Kyle Busch, COT... thoughts?
i thought the race was decent, but not quite as exciting as bristol normally is. it seemed like drivers were being more cautious because of the uncertainties that come along with the new car. IMO the short tracks are better than the 1.5 high speed tracks, more passing and excitment in general. the busch race was very fun to watch, if you watched that. i thought it was excellent. as far as kyle busch goes, he did well and he was lucky it was jeff burton behind him at the end. im not a fan of kyle busch at all, but i loved his post race comments on the COT because i think the car is flat out stupid. it looks like crap and its slower. it doesnt handle as well and its worse aerodynamically. all the safety stuff they did could have been done to the current cars. so thats just stupid IMO. i thought it was pathetic, but almost funny how the front splitter was cutting down tires on other cars. Juan Montoya didnt do to well either in the race, however i didnt expect him to. nothing against him but hes a rookie at bristol. just as i said before, this track weeds em out.
one thing i loved about the old cars was watching the front end drop on the short tracks, the COT cant have its suspension set up as well because of rules regulations. it limits suspension travel.
im excited for next week too. i love martinsville, some may think im crazy for it idk. i think these short tracks seperate the best from the rest as far as drivers go. its fun to watch how the really good ones go about the race (passing and such).
