The trans is under the hood, how is it making this " noise" as you describe from the rear, from our desks commenting on a condition as you describe it is almost impossible. If this is a misfire or sputtering that comes from the exhaust which is to the rear, then it is not a trans problem, has a qualified mechanic driven the car and actually diagnosed the problem?
