I would definately have it checked out.
If it turns out to be a POS, you paid a mechanic $40 or so to inspect and save you the hassle of paying more for repairs than for the car.
Or you could pay $2840 or so to get an awesome deal on a very nice car.
I paid 2500 for my 94 Prelude Si with the H23a1 motor. It leaked oil and I liked to race, needless to say I drove the car for a month and a half, then it sat for 6 months while I worked on getting another motor.
The cars aren't hard to modify its like working on any other honda, everything is there, you just gotta find it. But with things like intake and exhaust, the gains are somewhat minimal, but everything helps.
