OK..from your profile this is a 2000 SPortage.
Having few details, lets review the "common" problems:
Lots of starting problems are traced to the IdleAIrCOntrool valve (IAC).

Remove and clean with gas or carb cleaner. This is a 0$ job that should be done as normal maintenance anyway. My guess is the search would end here...at least I hope cause it would be so simple.
2nd in line is the crank position sensor. In fact knowing if you have spark would be interesting (but going for the spark plugs is quite arkward.. ) ; a no fire condition could be traced to this component, almost a maintenance item at that age. But usually, it works the opposite: car starts..and then stalls 5 minutes later or does not start again once wrmed up
3rd in line would be fuel pump...but this item is much too often seen as a culprit ...but it happens. Checking fuel rail pressure would help confirm or deny this option. From your symptoms, I do not think this is your problem.
