That's a very nice build of the Fujimi kit, but honestly it's a terrible kit for accuracy and detail. It doesn't come close to being accurate, from the body to the motor to rear wheels/tires. That picture is almost painful to look at, if you compare it to the picture of the real car. The Fujimi kit is just so..."off" unfortunately

I have Monogram's kit #2764 1988 release of the Shelby 427 S/C (the Revell kit is the Monogram kit FYI) and it's molded in blue metallic, has the white stripes, roll bar, full windscreen, and rectangular taillights (I don't know if Revell did the round taillights or not for any of the other variants). For all intents and purposes it represents the car that 356speedster is looking to build from the photo. Long ago I snagged a set of Halibrand wheels, knockoffs & tires from a water-damaged parts box Fujimi GT 40 MkII kit (the tag in the bag says 7130R9000-nice vintage tread pattern, I think they're Good Year tires but I don't have the white letters intended for these tires) that look like they'll be a big improvement over Revell's wheel/tire package. I don't know what tires the latest kit/2828 has, back when Monogram made my kit they threw in Michelin TRX's for the front and Goodyear GT Radials in back, both are laughably incorrect. Otherwise the kit looks really nice; fairly accurate. Due to manufacturer tolerances for plastic wall thickness, the Revell windshield surround is larger in scale than the 1:1 car's surround, but it doesn't look as overly thick as Fujimi's one-piece clear windshield and surround. The only way to make it really accurate is to make it in metal, something most of us aren't able to do.

As for white stripe decals, I often choose to mask/spray them vs. using decals which often don't go over hood scoops very well, and this kit has the kind of scoop which could be agonizing to get a decal to conform to.

I don't know a color code, but if you stick w/Tamiya Mica Blue you'd end up pretty close, perhaps it's dark enough.

The AMT Cobra 289 is a decent Cobra 289 kit, but it has it's share of problems. First it's 1/25 scale so it's a bit smaller than the other Cobras (Monogram's is 1/24), and AMT's tire choices all are pretty lame. The kit has decent detail, it's a better 289 than Fujimi's 427 represents a 427. For most accuracy you'll have to do parts scrounging. I think the old IMC Ford Cougar show car model has a better-detailed Cobra 289 chassis.

Or we can only hope that Accurate Miniatures upholds their promise of a new-tool 1/24 scale Cobra 289 which they have been promising for ages now. They say they got licensing for all Cobra 289 variants; street and race versions yada yada, potentially a gold mine of various kits can be done by them. But they've had this kit "pending" for over two years now and nobody has a clue if/when it will ever happen-they've also promised a Corvette Grand Sport roadster which is only a new body for their Grand Sport kits, and it's been promised/pending for a couple years. If they ever get the 289 out, it should be a terrific kit. But "when" is the question nobody knows...
