is this referring to that brass thing? that sounds risky on even an all-road vehicle much less 4x4'ing. one little hit and it's outa there. no?

wonder if it could be installed where the support member is, and still work? that would give it some protection, anyway.

but, ....i've been thinking of putting some kind of drain plug in there. is there any other way to put a plug in that wouldn't stick out/down so far?
