If the outer CV joint is going bad, it will make a grinding noise while driving, and you should be able to feel the vibration.
Also check the rear wheel bearings, when they get dry, they make a grinding noise during low mph, usually the noise is not audible when going over 35mph unless they are ruined.
Some other posts suggest checking the struts, making sure the springs are not twisting off their flange. The top part.
