I own a 2005 Xterra 2 wheel drive automatic transmission. It has about 48000 miles on it. Just within the last month or so, when turning right in a curve or turning onto a street(if I am going fast enough) I hear a clunking sound in my front left wheel area. I can feel it in my pedals, and in the floorboard where my feet are a little. It feels as if something is rolling under my feet from one side to the other on the left side. Now when I turn left sometimes I can feel/hear it but sometimes I can't. Unless I make a left turn after making a right turn the next right turn or curve will not make the noise again.
So it is as if something is going back and forth and if I make multiple right turns or curves without a left turn or curve the noise only happens on the first right turn/curve. Also if I turn at very slow speeds (less than 5-10 MPH) the noise does not happen at all. Also this noise happens whether I hit the brakes or not, so it isn't the brakes.
I was thinking it could be a CV joint, but I am not sure. I have an extended warranty, but if it is a shock or strut it isn't covered although CV joints are. Just wanting to get an idea of what it is before I take it to the dealership.
