Re: Battery

I worked in a shop that sold a lot of batteries to a lot of the same customers, so I began to see patterns...

In GM cars that sat a lot between runs like that it was common for a battery to only last a year or two, especially when they insisted on buying the minimum battery they could get away with...the four year, 450 CCA ones didn't last long....the 5 and 6 year ones seemed to hold up pretty well...

Where are you buying your batteries? Advance Auto sells ones made by Johnson Controls, they took over battery making from AC/Delco and make the best battery for the money, I think.

If the battery froze up, it did because there wasn't enough activity happening on the plates to keep it active enough to overcome the temps...a battery that sits a lot will sulfate the plates and reduce efficiency and activity, combine with being weakened by sitting around, and they will freeze up in real cold weather...

You need to get that car on some kind of battery tender or something. And getting a higher rated battery will probably help too...
