yes a person with average mechanical skills can do a regular tune up on these trucks which would consist of plugs, wires (only if they are worn/damaged), cap, rotor, air filter, pcv valve, and fuel filter.
the most time consuming thing in the tune up is the plugs. easiest way to get to them is to pull the front wheels off and go through the plastic fender liner. the steering shaft needs to be swung up and out of the way to access the #3 (center)plug on the drivers side. use only ac delco platinum plugs #41-932. heres a thread with pics that will help;
