Yes, you can replace just the fuel level sensor without changing the entire fuel pump assembly. I gave you both sets of prices and part numbers in case you had other issues other than the fuel guage reading. If you're planning on keeping the car, and have a habit of running it below a quarter tank on a regular basis, you may be better off replacing the entire fuel pump assembly.
