Ground return from both sides of motor run through driver switch. Driver switch is a problem in lot of cases. Diagrams here

(pwrwin97 is in fact same circuit but just drawn differently).
If motor runs one direction, no reason it does not in the opposite: same contacts, just reversed polarity. Problem is with feed.
