First, the bolt pattern is critical. The conical nuts that are used to hold the spacer on need to seat squarely or you run the risk of the nut backing off.

But a much more serious issue is the use of spacers - period. The consensus from various postings on the web is that spacers are a bad idea with a fair amount of risk. It would be much safer to get rims that don't require spacers.
