Re: does remote starter suck gas????

Yeah, you don't really need that much of a warmup like maxwedge says, but I have one installed in my 2006 Chevy Uplander and I did some checking on average mileage by using my DIC (drivers' information center). I checked the average miles per gallon before I use the remote start and then check it awhile after to see what the results were. There was only a 0.2 to 0.4 decrease after about 10 minutes. I also see the same decrease while waiting for traffic lights in the city as some of them are long and you have to wait awhile. So to me it's kind of like city driving. Sure it will decrease your overall fuel economy but the results are similar to driving in city conditions. It helps to keep your vehicle properly tuned to use as less gas as possible while idling.
