Have you checked voltage to determine that the battery is draining? Sometimes the charging light malfunctions and comes on when everything is fine, especially at idle. System voltage should be 13.8-15.4 volts with the car running at about 1000 rpm. If voltage is fine, you may want to check the connections for the charge light for corrosion.
