My caprice does the same thing... so does my truck... the way to keep the car from dying is to follow these simple instructions:
1: Monitor Gas Guage - If Fuel level should drop below 1/4 to 1/8 of a tank remaining, proceed to step 2.
2: Find and go to the nearest gas station.
3: Obtain fuel from an available pump.
4: Pump until tank is full, or you reach a desired level.
5: Pay for fuel
You have now prevented your vehicle from stalling out during a turn.
