Re: help 1991 buick regal limited has a few issues

probably not such a hot idea to give out your cell number on a public forum. but to each his own.

The car should roll slowly if its in drive and level. It sounds like one of your brakes is sticking a little bit. Put the car into neutral with it level and try to push it. If it won't move, then you'll need to jack the car up and find out which wheel is sticking. This has four wheel disc, correct? The rear discs on these W-body's sucked.

With the heat, it sounds like you didn't get all the air out of the cooling system. I would work on this first as you can get air pockets in the cylinders heads and create a hotspot.

What I do, using gloves, is open the radiator cap fully and run it until the therm opens. You can feel the upper hose get hot when this happens. Ideally, you can squeeze the heater hoses a little bit with the cap open to purge a little bit air that may be in there.

If that doesn't work, then it's probably clogged. If one hose is hot and the other cold, you know it is. They should be about the same temperature.

As far as the lack of power, when's the last time this car had a tune-up? My old regal did this as soon as the cat started to clog. Hit it with a hammer and see if it rattles. This is not a fool-proof test, but It's a start.

Let us know how it goes.

How many miles on this?
