No, my instructions didn't call out for it. Common sense did; the area is frosted, if painted (like all frosted areas inside kit glass for 20+ years) it matches what the 1:1 car looks like, and when painted there is no visible gap. This kit is not nearly worth the nitpicking it's getting. Seriously.
