Re: 2000 Accord Engine Died - help!!
Thanks guys.
Yea, I was going down the freeway when I heard a faint grinding noise and so I pulled off on the next exit. My car died on the offramp.
No, I didn't see any oil leaking anytime and again, the oil light didn't go on.
You mentioned the timing belt. Would that be apparent that it would need changing? Is this a routine thing? I'm positive I got the routine 60K tune-up.
As far as cost goes, the guy is charging me $300 for checking out the engine and finding the problem as I know it's a tough area to get to. The $7,000 figure is for a re-manufactured engine.
Needless to say, I'm not going with the $7,000 option. My husband's co-worker hooked me up with a mechanic who has a 80,000 engine for $1,100. He'll do the labor for $500 so I'm only out $1,600. That's a huge relief when compared with $7,000. I just hope it runs okay. I've never had to do this in my life and I'm a bit nervous.
Should I talk to the Honda dealer where I bought the car about this?
