I think Jose has rapped it up. I'd just like to add that if you decide on an FD or 3rd Gen, please please please don't throw a bunch of mods on it and run it lean. Too many people cause their own problems with blowing motors. The ECU does NOT adjust like Supra's or Honda's. I would suggest getting it checked out thoroughly. Get a compression test, and a boost test. A great deal of RX-7s have old crack vaccum lines which can cause boost leaks. But more seriously they could have a cracked turbo. It so you'll get some intermitted smoking, because oil will work it's way in the turbo and eventually shoot it out the exhaust. There are alot of people out there tired of their RX-7 and want to dump it off on some one else, and I would hate for you to experience that. I've been lucky. I've had 2, a 93, and a 94. I would also suggest finding a 94 or 95. Some kinks were work out after that first year. As far as R1-R2, or Touring, PEP, or Base. I would go with Touring as well. The suspension is hard enough with the touring and unless your gonna auto-x or something you don't need it. You can always add an oil cooler and a strut bar. Hell you can add the front and rear spoiler too. They are fun cars, if you keep up with maintenance. More so than not you'll end up with a rebuild or have one rebuilt. My 93 never needed one but I needed turbos on my 94 and 42,000 miles. Good luck in you search. I love them, and I hope to get another some day. Hopefully in 2004 or 5
