You're right about the suspension. The 88 comes with the ITR rear suspension from the factory....just the spring rates are different. The HF also has a front sway bar whereas the DX doesn't.
As for the weight differences, 88 is the lightest year for the 4th generation and every year after that, it gets a bit heavier. HF is the lightest, then the DX, then the Si.
The 88 HF is the lightest 4th gen and the 91 civic si is the heaviest (excluding 4dr's).
