Ty,
I have 18x7 +43 on 225/40/18. that tire size is actually oversized. .8" to be exact, so almost a whole inch.
I'm about to switch to some 18x7.5's soon. Probably gonna go with 225/35/18 this time which is the exact diameter as stock.
I orginally had 215/35/18, WAY too small...
About the weight issue, I wouldnt switch to a smaller wheel, it really makes no difference! Here's why...
Sport Compact Car did a test (I can look up the issue tonight). They compared the same model wheels in three sizes, 16, 17, 18" They all weighed in within 1lb or less than each other.
Of course the 16 and 17" will be lighter compared to 18, but you have more weight in the tires/air in the smaller ones! This is seriously the biggest myth there is!
I would just go to the correct tire size (225/35/18) or switch to a lighter wheel if you want (I think you have those 3pc 5Zigens? heavy!! I have 3pc too)
I wouldnt go to 17" to save weight, you wont save any in the long run becuase the tires are bigger and heavier and need more air...
