imo 18's are too big for these compacts. sure they look great, but the tire profile is too little for street. you should be using a 35 profile tire, on your 18s. ...theyre like rubber bands. hehe
wheel weight does make a HUGE difference coming off the line....especially for AT drivers. if you want faster acceleration, you might wanna change gear ratios by going to a smaller than stock circumference tire setup with lighter wheels.
