If you didn't already replace your rotor, look and see if it is black in the center and allowing the spark to go directly to the distributor shaft. Sometimes they even burn a hole that is visible. Replace the module in the distributor. Anything that causes the HEI to produce maximum spark like fouled spark plugs, wires, or excessive air gap between the rotor and distributor cap will eventually cause the rotor and module failure. The very first step is make sure that you have battery voltage at the battery wire going to the distributor cap when the ignition is turned on.
