More hard starting, but with a new pump! ?

I would just like to take a second and say thanks already for a lot of the great advice I have found in the first 15 minutes here. I already solved one problem ( Change engine oil light ) and look forward to being a part of this community. Thanks!
First off I have a 2000 Silverado Z71 5.3 and 127k miles. For a couple months now it has been hard starting if it has already been driven for the day, and unless it has sat for a couple hours it takes some cranking to start it. My first thought was plugs and wires. Next was fuel filter, as the pump was making some noise. Nothing really solved it. Well this week the pump finally went out, and I figured that this would solve it, but it has not. Everything else seems to run fine, and plus my fuel gauge works again! But as I mentioned, if it sits for more than a couple minutes, it takes some cranking to get it started again. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
